As the 2021 football season approaches, sportsbooks across the United States are getting ready for a busy wagering season. This year, teams will be back in action within the NFL and college sectors, with PlayUSA predicting as much as $20 billion in bets will be placed this year. New markets will start up this season across the nation, which could indicate higher betting numbers than ever before.

The projections of PlayUSA show that the upcoming football season will see over $20 billion in single-game wagers on football games. This amount excludes parlay bets. With this amount of betting, as much as $1.5 billion could be produced in revenues.
For NFL betting, the analysts predict that a minimum of $12 billion will be wagered. This also excludes parlay betting and as much as $800 million should be derived from these bets in revenues. College football is expected to generate around $8 billion and $550 million in revenues will be earned.
Lead analyst for PlayUSA Network, Dustin Gouker, commented in a press release that the United States market has grown significantly since the 2020 football season due to sports betting launching in Michigan and Virginia. Arizona is also about to start offering services, so that will one more market to add to the list.
Gouker said: “The U.S. sports betting market looks entirely different than it did just one year ago. There is no question that it will be a historic football season unlike any we’ve seen before.”
Connecticut and Florida are also expected to launch this year, which will add even more totals to the overall bets placed and revenues earned.
Better College Football Schedule
Last year, the pandemic started early, and the college football schedule was affected. This year, the schedule should be better, with more games taking place instead of breaks due to the coronavirus. Operators are planning to spend a ton of cash to promote football betting lines.
Operators like FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, and others are expected to start a major push in bring customers to their betting sites. What exactly will be offered is yet to be seen. It would not be surprising to find special contests or events on the agenda as the upcoming season draws closer.
College football season kicks off on August 28, with Nebraska vs Illinois, UConn at Fresno State, Hawaii at UCLA, and UTEP at New Mexico State. For the NFL, games begin on September 9, with The Washington Football team facing off against the Patriots, the Steelers against the Eagles, and the Titans vs the Falcons, among other games.
